1994 Vauxhall Astra Mk3 1.4 Auto – Future British Classic For sale is my 1994 Vauxhall Astra Mk3 1.4 automatic – now 32 years old and rapidly becoming a genuine British classic. I bought the car in March this year as a temporary runabout while recovering from an injury. It came from a local classic Vauxhall enthusiast who owned several Astras and Cavaliers, and it’s clear the car has been well looked after throughout its life. It has covered around 68200 miles, this may increase slightly. The car comes with an impressive history file, including service records dating back to its original supplying dealer, along with the original service documentation. Recent maintenance includes: Cambelt and water pump Thermostat and fresh coolant flush Front drop links Front wishbones Offside top mount Mechanically, it’s a refreshingly simple and honest car. No touchscreens, complex electronics or unnecessary gadgets—just dependable, easy-to-maintain motoring. The 1.4 8-valve petrol engine runs beautifully and is surprisingly peppy for all of its 80 horses, the 4-speed automatic gearbox changes smoothly once up to temperature. Everything works as it should, including all lights, electrics and even the original cassette radio. Points to note: The tracking/wheel alignment will need adjusting. While doing so, I’d recommend replacing the nearside track rod end as a precaution, although it is currently solid. These can be found for £20 for a set on and would need a couple of hours’ work if that. The plastic retainer on one side of the driver’s sun visor has cracked with age. I still have the broken piece and it should repair easily with a small amount of adhesive. MOT expires at the end of August. I see no reason why it shouldn’t pass its next test with the minor items addressed. As with any 32-year-old vehicle, there are the usual age-related marks and minor imperfections. I’ve owned (and still do) a number of classic and modern classic cars, and ongoing maintenance is simply part of owning and enjoying them. I’m only selling because it’s no longer needed. It’s far too good to be scrapped and I’d genuinely like to see it go to someone who appreciates these increasingly rare Mk3 Astras and wants to help keep another classic on the road. Please note: This is a 32-year-old classic vehicle and is being sold as seen. Due to its age and nature, no warranty is implied or given, and no guarantees are offered regarding future reliability. I strongly encourage prospective buyers to view and inspect the car thoroughly before purchase to ensure it meets their expectations. Priced realistically to reflect the short MOT and minor jobs required. Sensible enquiries are welcome. Please, no timewasters or tyre kickers.
